According to the international classification, L63.0 or alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease that hurts the hair follicles which prevalence is 0.1-0.2% in the world and is a common disorder among the population of Mongolia.
The cause is unknown, but it is thought to be due to heredity and immunodeficiency, apoptotic dermatitis, allergic diseases, colitis, vitiligo, type 1 diabetes, viral infections and mental illness. 50% of total cases occur under the age of 20 year-old and 30-45% over the age of 40 [1].
